Our Story

Techsploration wasn’t born in a boardroom; it was born on the ground in Cape Breton. In the late 1990s, our founders saw a gap in the workforce and a spark in young women. What started as a small pilot project, highlighted by a group of girls building a prize-winning parade float while participating in a GETT (Girls Exploring Trades & Technology) camp, quickly gained the backing of the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency and the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC). Today, we’ve grown from a local initiative into a national best practice, having spent over 25 years proving that when you remove barriers, young women and gender-diverse youth don’t just enter the skilled trades and STEM fields, they lead them!
