Marine Division Techsplorer Event

With support from Irving Shipbuilding, students from nine schools came together to explore the many possibilities within the marine sector, connecting with dozens of female and gender-diverse role models working in STEM and the Skilled Trades.

Students brought their learning to life through creative career presentations featuring skits, trivia, music and more. Irving Shipbuilding’s Beth Hill served as lunch emcee, while Techsploration alumna and Irving Shipbuilding Pipefitter Apprentice Victoria Henneberry shared her own career journey, encouraging students to embrace challenges, learn from setbacks and keep pursuing their goals.

The event concluded with a 19-station career Round Robin, featuring professionals predominantly from the marine sector, followed by the presentation competition, with Graham Creighton Junior High taking home the top prize. Students were then welcomed into the Techsploration alumnae community, where they can continue exploring career opportunities through alumnae programming and post-secondary scholarships.
